DO IT OFTEN..
Save each time before you leave "Tripod Edit"
SO YOU DON'T LOSE ANY OF THE WORK THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY WORKED ON
To transfer your Web TV pages to tripod
Web tv puts a lot of garbage codes into their pages when you make them. because they automaticly line pics to the left or the right, and also everytime you hit the "return key" web puts a "br" in your page...
Also Web TV puts the images in a "Table" code.
First Transfer Your Pictures and Images
You have to transfer all your pictures to Tripod so they will have a Tripod addy because you can't link to web tv. Also save the background if you really like it that much
Go to your Web Tv website that you want to change over. Save the pictures to one of your folders on the computer. Do this by "right click" & then "left click" on the words "Save Picture As" Do this to each one of your pictures.
Then transload them to a "directory" at tripod....you can make more directories, { which are the same as web tv scrapbook, }...
You just click on the top right where it says "new directory"...just use any name you want to..."pics, gifs, gifs1, gif, family," for example
An easy way, if you really know "HTML"
Go to your website at Web TV, -- ""right click" { dropdown shows up }
& "left click" on the words "view source"
To CC&P -- "right click"...."left click" on the words "Select all" { every word will be highlighted }
then with your curser on any highlighted area, "right click"...."left click" on the word "copy"
Next go to your tripod edit page. First what I do is seperate the codes that I already have on the "edit" page. So it is easier to work with and I don't mix up the codes. do this by, putting your cursor in front of a word and "hitting" your "Enter" key. this will move the words down. I hit the "enter" key about 5 times to make plenty of room. Then on a blank line, put your cursor on the left side margin & "left click" then "right click" and "left click" on the word "paste"
Next delete { by useing the backspace key } all unwanted codes that web tv has put in there.
An example of a Tripod Page
Make a page, type in the words "html" then "body" with the approiate brackets around them. Hit your "Enter" key about 10 times. { to make a large space in the middle }
Then type in the words "/body" then "/html" with the approiate brackets around them.
So what you have is a html body at the top of your page. Then a large blank space Then the words /body /html at the bottom of the page.
Now pick a blank space half way down on the left hand margin. "Paste" your web tv page here.
To take out Web Tv codes
Start by takeing out the codes in the beginning of the web tv page like these....take out the beginning "Html" & put your "body" background or color, "text" & "link" color codes up where the "body" word is at the top of your page...{ 2nd. word on top of the whole page }
Take out your "Meta Tags" for web tv { You can put your own in at a later date }
Then at the bottom of the code. Take out the last "a href" & rest of that code and "img src" & rest of that code. This is a code for the web tv ad that is at the bottom of your web tv website. { You don't want it on Tripod.
Then lastly take out the "/body" & the "/html"
Maybe it would be a good time to save your page now
What you have left is a page that looks like your web tv page without the pictures.
Now go back to "Tripod Edit" and put your new pictures with the new Tripod addy in the place of the web tv pictures.
Now your page should look just like your web tv page.
To put pictures on that are not aligned left or right, but centered on your site
Save all your pictures to your Tripod site. As described above.
Example
Go to your Web TV website. "Cut & copy" all your words on your website. "Paste" them to your Tripod Edit. In between the words "html" "body" and the "/body" "/html" just as described above.
Put the "body background, text, & links colors" in the right place. Delete all unwanted web tv codes. All the "tables", "td", "tr", "LI", "UL", "Disc", "spacers"
So that you will just have the "text" { with or without the font size or color..your choice } and all your "pictures" and all your "a href=" links.
When you edit just put "center" in the beginning of you text, pictures & links and "/center" at the end of your text, pictures & links. { with the approiate brackets surrounding them }
Then put your pictures wherever you would like them. Useing the same "center" codes
Also if you have links on your page, You could CC&P all your links and then add the "a href="the addy of link"" in front of your link name and "/a" at the end of your link name. { with the approiate brackets surrounding them }
