The "Desktop" is the "Icons" that you see on your monitor screen

A "Taskbar" is a bar on the bottom of your moniter screen

To turn off the computer

~*~*~

First you have to close all the progams that you are working on

And if you are "online"....close out of that also.

"Left" click on the "Start" with the windows flag, at the bottom of the left hand screen,
then "left" click on the word "shut down".
When you see the dropdown menu, make sure the little circle has a dot in it for "shut down" Then "Left" click on "OK"

To Use A Mouse

"Left" click is to select something

"Right" click is to pull up an options menu

When you use the "Right" click, then you "Left" click on what you want to select from the options menu

Another thing:

You can open Folders or Icons by

"Right" clicking and then "Left" click on the word "Open"

or else you can "Left" click 2 times on the folder or icon.

Drag & Drop

When you want to move a picture, a folder or an icon

Put your cursor on what you want to move then "Left" click on mouse

Keep holding it down and with your hand, move the mouse left, right, up or down, where ever you want to put it

Then let go of the "Left" click

CC&P

"Left" click in front of a word or the sentence that you want to "Copy"

keep holding down the "Left" click and move the mouse to the right

at this time you are highlighting the words you want to copy

If you want to "Copy" a whole paragraph,

just move the mouse "downward" as you are still holding the "Left" click

When they are all highlighted, let go of the "Left" click

move your mouse so that it is positioned on top of the highlighted area

"Right" click, then

"Left" click on the word "Copy"

Now take your words & "Paste" them where you want them

"Right" click, then

"Left" click on the word "Paste"

How To Operate A Window

The top of each window will have a bar on it:

Top Left hand side will be the name of the window you are looking at

Top Right hand side will be 3 small icons

1. a little line

"Left" click this and your window will be out of site.

You have just put it down on the bottom of your monitor where your "Taskbar" is.

To put it back up on your screen,

"Left" click on the "Name" on the "Taskbar"

2. a little square box

"Left" click on this and it will make your screen fill up the whole monitor screen,

"Left" click on it again and it will be put back to the original size it was before

3. a small X

"Left" click on this and it will "close" out the window you are looking at

To Move Your Window Around The Screen

Put your cursor on a blank area on the top bar of your window

"Left" click and keep holding your finger on it

with your hand, move the mouse around the screen.

You can put the window where ever you want to

By making windows smaller,

You could look at 3 or 4 windows on your monitor screen at the same time

To Make Your Window Smaller in size

Put your cursor on the very "Edge" of the window, on the "Edge Line"

You will see 2 little arrows.

"Left" click and keep holding down while moving your hand.

If you put the cursor on the "Left" or "Right" hand sides, move your hand left or right

If You put the cursor on the "Top" or "Bottom" lines, move your hand up or down

Also if you put your cursor on any of the "4 Corners", you move your hand in or out

To Open The Icons On Your Desktop

Your desktop is the screen that you see on your monitor.

"Right" click on the icon,

"Left" click on the word "Open"

Or

You can "Left" click 2 times

To Make A Folder To Save Your "Pictures" In

~*~*~

"Right" click on the "My Computer" Icon.

"Left" click on the word "Open".

"Right" click on the word "C" with the little picture next to it.

"Left" click on the word "Open".

"Left" click on the word "File" at the top of the left hand corner.

"Left" click on the word "New".

"Left" click on the word "Folder"

A new folder with the highlighted words--

"New Folder"

will appear as the last item on the bottom of your open window.

while the words are highlighted,

hit your "Backspace" key,

this will delete the words so you can type in the name of your new folder.

To make more folders just repeat the steps above

To complete this, just "Left" click on the "White" blank area 2 times.

When you are finished making folders

"Left" click on the tiny "X" in the top right hand corner of your window

You have just put these folders in your "C" drive.

To Put A Shortcut To Your Favorite Folder On Your Desktop

Open up your "Folder" by

"Right" click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop

"Left" click on the word "Open"

"Right" click on the "C Drive"

"Left" click on the word "Open"

Put your cursor on the "Folder" that you want to open

"Right" click, to open a menu

"Left" click on the word "Send To"

"Left" click on the words "Desktop, Create Shortcut"

To close out this window just "Left" click on the "Little X" at the top right corner

Now go look at your "Desktop", a new "Folder" will be there

How To Save A Picture In Your Favorite Folder

When You are looking at a "Picture" or a "Gif" that you want to "Save"

Place your cursor right on top of the "Picture"

"Right" click and a dropdown will show up

"Left" click on the word "Save Picture As"

Then pick out the folder you want it in

By "Left" clicking on the little arrow at the end of the small "White" oblong box

Then "Left" click on the "folder" that you want

Then a name will appear in the white box where it says "File Name"

"Left" click on the word "Save"

How To View The Source Of How A Page Was Made

Open up a website you want to view

On a "Blank" spot of the page

"Right" click so a menu pops up

"Left" click on the word "View Source"

At this point you will see how the page was made

How To CC&P A Code When You View The Source

~*~*~

When you are looking at a site "Right" click on a blank spot on the page

"Left" click on the words "view source".

This way you can examine it to see what the codes are that people use to make their page

Then just CC&P the codes you want & paste it on your web pages

Just put your addys in there instead of theirs

When you are looking at "view source"

you can play with it the same as you do when you edit your pages

You can move the codes around & put blank spaces in between so you can CC&P it better

Put your cursor in front of the code you want & hit your "enter" key

This will move the sentence down

Then put your cursor at the end of the code you want & hit your "enter" key

This will move the next sentence or next word down.

Now you have isolated the part that you want to CC&P.

When you are done & close it out

it will ask you if you want to save any changes....just "left" click on "No"
